There is no published fixed timetable. Departures are more frequent in the summer season (May to September). Overnight buses arrive in Mingora early in the morning, which gives you a full day in the valley.

The route

The bus follows the M-2 to the Islamabad area, then the M-1 towards Peshawar and turns north onto the Swat Expressway near Kernal Sher Kalay, entering the valley through Chakdara. The expressway is fast, but the last part into Mingora is a busy town road.

Along the way: stops and landmarks

After the Bhera stop on the M-2, the bus continues past Islamabad onto the M-1 and leaves it near Kernal Sher Kalay to join the Swat Expressway. The expressway climbs through tunnels and hills towards Chakdara, where the Swat River comes into view. From Chakdara the road passes Batkhela and Thana before reaching Mingora.

Expect a meal stop on the M-2 and sometimes another near the start of the expressway. Road works occasionally slow traffic near Chakdara.
