"Lahore to Kashmir" usually means a trip to Muzaffarabad, the Neelum Valley or Rawalakot in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Kashmir is a region, not a single city, and on the Faisal Movers city list we checked we did not find Muzaffarabad or another AJK town as a destination.

This page explains the practical way to make the trip with Faisal Movers for the first part, and what to do after that.

Bus timings

Take any Lahore to Islamabad departure that reaches the twin cities by early afternoon, so you can continue to Muzaffarabad in daylight. Local coaches to AJK leave from Rawalpindi (Pir Wadhai area) and Faizabad through the day.

The route

After the M-2 to the twin cities, the road to Muzaffarabad goes either via Murree and Kohala Bridge, or via the Hazara Motorway to Abbottabad and Mansehra and then Garhi Habibullah. Both include mountain stretches. The Neelum Valley road beyond Muzaffarabad is narrow and can close after snow or landslides.

Along the way: stops and landmarks

On the Murree route, the coach climbs from Islamabad through Murree and down to Kohala, where a bridge over the Jhelum marks the entry into AJK; the road then follows the river to Muzaffarabad. On the Abbottabad route, the coach uses the Hazara Motorway to Mansehra, then crosses into AJK near Garhi Habibullah.

Both routes have tea stops and viewpoints; the Kohala bridge area is a popular stop.

Boarding and arrival points

Arriving in Kashmir

Choosing the right class

For the Lahore to Islamabad leg, any class is comfortable on the motorway. Save your energy for the second leg: local coaches and vans to AJK are smaller and less comfortable, and the road is winding. If you get travel sick, sit near the front of the van.

Best time to travel

April to October is the best time to visit Muzaffarabad and the Neelum Valley. Monsoon rain in July and August can cause landslides. From December to March the upper Neelum Valley is often snowbound, and some roads close.

Arriving in Kashmir: getting around

Muzaffarabad, the capital of AJK, sits where the Neelum and Jhelum rivers meet. It is the gateway to the Neelum Valley (Keran, Sharda, Kel, Arang Kel), Pir Chinasi and Rawalakot further south.

In Muzaffarabad, local taxis and vans are the main transport. For the Neelum Valley, shared jeeps and vans leave from the city; hiring a car for several days is common for families. Carry cash and your CNIC, and check road conditions before going beyond Keran.

  2. Bookkaru app: Faisal Movers' booking partner; pay with JazzCash, Easypaisa or card.

Step-by-step help: How to book a Faisal Movers ticket.

Before you travel: quick checklist

  • Original CNIC (B-Form for children). It must match the name on the ticket.
  • Ticket on your phone: keep the SMS or e-ticket screenshot; mobile data can be weak at terminals.
  • Reach early: 30 minutes before departure, 45 minutes on Eid and long weekends.
  • Luggage: label your bag; keep medicines, chargers and valuables in your hand bag.

Tips for this route

  • Pick your exact destination (Muzaffarabad, Neelum, Rawalakot, Bagh) before you plan the second leg.
  • Travel in daylight on mountain roads.
  • Keep your CNIC with you for checkpoints at the AJK entry points.
  • In winter, check whether the Neelum road is open before going beyond Muzaffarabad.

Safety, scams and family travel

Fake "Faisal Movers booking" numbers and WhatsApp accounts are common on social media. They take an advance payment by JazzCash, Easypaisa or bank transfer and never issue a ticket. Buy only through the official website, the Bookkaru app, the UAN 111-22-44-88 or a terminal counter, and never share an OTP, PIN or card number with a caller.

When travelling with children or elderly relatives, choose seats near the front (less motion, quicker exit at stops), carry snacks and medicines in hand luggage, and ask the hostess for help at the boarding door if someone needs assistance with steps.
