Lahore to Karachi is one of the longest intercity bus journeys in Pakistan, linking the two largest cities across Punjab and Sindh. It is an overnight-and-then-some trip, so the class you choose matters far more than on short routes. Faisal Movers offers Economy, Business and sleeper berths on this corridor.

Below you will find the current listed fares, what the journey actually feels like, where the bus leaves from and arrives, and tips for surviving 18 hours on the road.

Bus timings

There is no published fixed timetable, but this route is built around afternoon and evening departures from Lahore so that most of the night is spent on the motorway and the bus reaches Karachi the next day. Pick a departure that lands in Karachi in daylight if you are new to the city.

The route

The usual path is the M-3 and M-4 towards Multan, then the M-5 motorway to Sukkur, and the M-9 or N-5 corridor south to Karachi. Expect two or three meal and prayer stops at large service areas. The Sukkur to Hyderabad stretch is the slowest part of the journey because of heavy truck traffic. In June and July the interior of Sindh is extremely hot, so a working AC is worth paying for.

Return trip (Karachi to Lahore)

The return service follows the same roads in reverse and the listed fare is the same as the Lahore to Karachi fare. Buses leave from Sohrab Goth; check the Karachi departure time separately on faisalmovers.com because it is not the same as the Lahore time.

Boarding and arrival points

Boarding in Lahore

Buses leave from the Faisal Movers terminal at Abdullah Travels, Band Road, Lahore. Arrive 30 minutes early: long-route buses load a lot of luggage and cargo before departure. See our Abdullah Terminal, Band Road guide for directions and parking.

Choosing the right class

This is where class really matters. Economy is the budget choice and fine if you sleep easily in a seat. Business gives wider seats and more recline, which most passengers find worth the extra Rs 1,590 for a night on the road. A sleeper berth costs more again but lets you lie flat, which helps older passengers and anyone with back problems.

Read our sleeper bus guide before choosing a berth, as upper and lower berths are quite different.

Best time to travel

November to February is the most comfortable time for this route because Sindh is mild in winter. From May to August the interior of Sindh regularly goes above 45°C, and a breakdown or long stop can be very uncomfortable. Before Eid and at the start of school holidays, Karachi-bound buses fill up days ahead.

Arriving in Karachi: getting around

Karachi is Pakistan's largest city and main port. The Faisal Movers terminal at Sohrab Goth is at the northern entrance of the city, near the Super Highway, so most passengers still have a 30 to 60 minute ride to reach areas like Saddar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Clifton or DHA.

Ride-hailing apps are the safest and simplest option from Sohrab Goth. The Green Line BRT runs from Surjani Town through North Karachi and Nazimabad towards the city centre and can be reached by a short ride. Avoid carrying large amounts of cash, and keep your phone out of sight while waiting for a car.

Step-by-step help: How to book a Faisal Movers ticket.

Before you travel: quick checklist

  • Original CNIC (B-Form for children). It must match the name on the ticket.
  • Ticket on your phone: keep the SMS or e-ticket screenshot; mobile data can be weak at terminals.
  • Reach early: 30 minutes before departure, 45 minutes on Eid and long weekends.
  • Luggage: label your bag; keep medicines, chargers and valuables in your hand bag.

Tips for this route

  • For 17+ hours, the sleeper berth or Business seat is worth the extra cost if you want to arrive able to work the next day.
  • Carry your own water and light snacks; service-area food is available but stops are timed.
  • Keep your CNIC with you, not in your checked bag. Police checkpoints in Sindh sometimes ask for it.
  • Charge your phone fully before boarding; charging points are not guaranteed on every seat.
  • Read our sleeper bus guide before choosing a berth.

Safety, scams and family travel

Fake "Faisal Movers booking" numbers and WhatsApp accounts are common on social media. They take an advance payment by JazzCash, Easypaisa or bank transfer and never issue a ticket. Buy only through the official website, the Bookkaru app, the UAN 111-22-44-88 or a terminal counter, and never share an OTP, PIN or card number with a caller.

When travelling with children or elderly relatives, choose seats near the front (less motion, quicker exit at stops), carry snacks and medicines in hand luggage, and ask the hostess for help at the boarding door if someone needs assistance with steps.
